Zucchini should never be watered with cold water – it shocks plants and halts their development. Just 3-4 cold waterings will ensure no satisfying harvest.
Overwatering before fruiting
Avoid excessive watering before fruiting begins – this produces barren flowers and prevents zucchini formation.
Before fruiting starts, irrigate only after the soil has completely dried out.
Inadequate moisture during harvest season
When zucchini begin producing fruit, increase watering amounts to maintain slightly damp soil.
Ideally during this phase, the soil should take 4-5 days to partially dry between waterings.
Over-saturation
Prevent water from reaching the foliage, as moisture on plants causes rot during cool weather when evaporation slows.
